This is the final day of the year and the final appeal we will make before the clock strikes midnight. The need has not grown quieter as the hours run down. It speaks in the voices of families who still sleep in borrowed rooms, in the requests from local leaders who want to protect their communities, and in the alert tones that still interrupt the night in parts of Israel. Tonight, we ask one last time because we know that readiness is not a slogan. It is a promise we must keep.

We remember what began on 7 October: the murders, the injuries, the hostages, the evacuations, the mobilization of hundreds of thousands of reservists. We remember how ordinary citizens became the first line of defense and how medics attempted to reach the wounded even when roads were deadly. In Be’eri, even the local MDA ambulance driver, Avi Yachatz, was gunned down, and with him his two young grandsons. Their loss stands as a summons to equip those who serve, to reduce exposure, and to strengthen protection for civilians and responders alike.

The war that began on that day has become the longest in Israel’s modern history. Threats continue across multiple fronts. There are casualties every day. None of us knows when the next siren will sound or where the next strike will fall. What we know is that preparation saves lives. We see it when a medi-cycle reaches a wounded person minutes faster than an ambulance. We see it when a shelter is close enough for a child to reach without delay. We see it when emergency squads go on patrol with proper protective gear and return home safely to their families.

Since 1994, Vision for Israel has prepared for days like this. Our calling is to be ready in times of war and terror, to save lives, and to serve a vulnerable population with compassion. With your partnership, we have invested millions of shekels in the past two years to equip emergency response squads, purchase protective gear, deliver vehicles and medical supplies, and install shelters in communities in the south and the north. We have also provided relief and trauma support to families whose lives were turned upside down. Our spirit is not broken. We continue because love requires it.

Tonight, the Emergency Fund is our focus because it is the tool that turns compassion into action without delay. When MDA calls for an ambulance with trauma capability, the fund allows us to act. When a squad needs modern helmets and vests, the fund allows us to respond quickly. When a town identifies a gap in shelters near a school or a playground, the fund allows us to place protection where it is needed most. The Emergency Fund means that when lives are on the line, we can move fast rather than wait for the next fundraising campaign.

We set a clear goal at the start of this season: raise £190,000 ($250,000) by 31 December. Every gift, large or small, is a brick in the wall of protection for Israeli families. In two days, the calendar will turn, and this year’s window to prepare will close. The needs in Israel will not end with the bells, and danger will not pause for fireworks. That is why these two days matter. Readiness is built before a crisis. It is built by people who choose to act now so that someone else can live tomorrow. As we approach year-end, we are asking you to help us put the final pieces in place for the Emergency Fund that will drive our response in the months ahead.

On 7 October 2023, a young man named Yuval went to the Nova music festival to dance under a rising sun. What he thought were fireworks became the opening flashes of an attack. As he and his friends tried to escape down a narrow side road, a police officer shouted a warning: terrorists were racing straight toward them. The first convoy appeared. Bullets shredded the car. His friend Ron, in the back seat, was mortally wounded. Yuval and his other friend, Tamir, bailed out and ran. He flattened himself beneath a bush, forcing stillness while armed terrorists scanned for movement, then pushed himself to run again, though blood soaked his back. A stranger pulled him into a roadside safety shelter. Later, a resident from a nearby Moshav brought him to a safe room. Moments of refuge, stacked one on the next, became the difference between life and death.

Hours later, Yuval learned that Tamir had survived, but Ron had not. Guilt tried to root in his heart. He chose a different path. 

Even before that day, Yuval had begun serving elderly Israelis, especially Holocaust survivors, who had been left alone in the long isolation of COVID. After the massacre, he leaned in deeper, delivering essentials and, more importantly, time. 

With help from friends like you, Vision for Israel awarded Yuval a scholarship to continue his studies in the aftermath of trauma. Your generosity told him that his calling still mattered and that hope could take root again.

Yuval’s story captures what practical protection looks like. It looks like shelter placed where it is actually reachable in seconds. It looks like responders trained and equipped to move through danger. It looks like a network of people prepared to act. In a country where threats still simmer across several fronts and casualties occur every day, preparation is not fear. It is love made ready.

The last two years have been long. Families continue to grieve. Communities are still rebuilding. The war has stretched across multiple fronts, and there are casualties every day. In this reality, preparation is not optional. It is an expression of love for our neighbors. Since 1994, Vision for Israel has been serving in precisely these moments with a commitment to practical compassion. We exist to minister to a vulnerable population in crisis and to support the systems that protect life.

Because of your generosity, millions of shekels have been invested in protective gear, emergency equipment, and shelters for communities in the south and the north. We have placed medi-cycles that arrive when traffic stands still. We have supported emergency response squads that patrol neighborhoods. We have installed shelters near schools and community centres so the dash for safety is measured in steps, not city blocks. And we have supported families with basic needs and trauma care because the wounds of war are deep and persistent.

Yet the calls for help keep coming. MDA requests ambulances equipped for trauma. Municipal police ask for a reliable vehicle that can respond quickly. Emergency squads need vests and helmets that meet current standards. Communities ask for shelters where there are none. We cannot say to them, “Wait until next month.” When lives are at stake, delay is a decision with consequences.

This is where the Emergency Fund changes the story. The fund gives us the ability to say yes to urgent needs, to purchase equipment before supplies run short, to move resources where they will make the greatest difference, and to keep our commitments to the communities that rely on us. It is the backbone of our readiness for what may come tomorrow.

As we light the Hanukkah candles, we remember a miracle that shone against impossible odds. This season is a reminder that God’s light is not fragile. It does not flicker when the wind howls. In Israel today, we are still walking through the shadow of the war that began on 7 October, 2023. Two years later, grief remains, and vigilance remains. Yet we also see small miracles whenever help arrives on time, whenever a shelter is close enough for a family to reach in seconds, and whenever a trained responder is ready with the right equipment at the right moment. That kind of readiness is a lamp that never fails.

Amid the darkness, a young paramedic named Amit chose to be light. On the morning of 7 October, she sheltered wounded civilians in a dental clinic in Kibbutz Be’eri. Lines were jammed. Terrorists controlled the roads. She reached a dispatcher in Jerusalem who leveled with her: rescue might not reach them. Hours later, as gunfire surged and receded, Amit calmed a patient who tried to flee, knowing death waited beyond the door. Sometime in those hours, she was shot in the leg and applied a tourniquet to herself. Still, she stayed, treating the wounded God had placed in front of her. When terrorists finally breached the clinic, they murdered her. She was twenty-two years old. A survivor later said she had been “paradise in hell.”

Her story breaks our hearts, yet it also clarifies our calling. We cannot undo what happened. We can honour it by equipping those who will answer the next call. Readiness is not an idea. It is an ambulance with oxygen and trauma supplies kept in stock, a medi-cycle positioned where it will save minutes, a protective vest that will return a volunteer to his family, a shelter within reach when the siren sounds, and trauma care for survivors in the long tail of grief.

Vision for Israel exists to act before the siren. Since 1994, we have prepared for days like these. We do it so that when the worst happens, help is not an idea. Help is a person, a vehicle, a shelter, a kit, a phone call answered, a warm blanket in cold air. Over the last two years, we have invested millions of shekels to outfit emergency response squads, provide protective gear, deliver to first responders the supplies they asked for, and install safety shelters that mean a child has a place to go to find safety. We have also supported families with essentials and trauma care because wounds are not only physical.

The requests do not slow down. Every week brings appeals for ambulances and equipment that can save lives when seconds matter, for a suitable car for municipal police, for helmets and vests that meet current standards, and for the most basic yet life-preserving need of all: more shelters in more places. Communities in the south and the north know the sound of sirens and the pause between warning and impact. Those seconds are precious. Seconds decide whether a grandmother can reach safety. Seconds decide whether a medic can arrive in time with oxygen and a defibrillator.

We cannot predict the next strike. But we can be ready for it. Israel is facing threats across several fronts, and there are casualties every day. The war has stretched on longer than any in our modern history, and the costs are measured in tears and in courage. Readiness is not about fear. It is about love that plans ahead so that, when the dark tries to swallow the light, someone is already holding a lamp.

That is why we are bolstering our Emergency Fund in this season of light. The fund allows us to say yes when a municipality calls for an emergency vehicle and produce the funds that same week. It allows us to purchase protective gear when supply chains tighten. It allows us to pre-position shelters and ready trauma supplies. It allows us to move quickly rather than write reports while minutes slip away. In simple words, the Emergency Fund fills the jars so the oil does not run out when the night is longest.

On the evening of 14 December, Jewish families around the world will kindle the first Hanukkah light. We’ll gather around tables, tell stories of God’s faithfulness, and watch the glow of the candles push back the early winter night. Hanukkah is the Feast of Lights and also a feast of home, of warmth, and of family. Yet for many children in Israel this winter, the table is bare, the apartment is cold, and the sense of safety is fragile.

In November, we shared about a new initiative within our feeding program: partnering with local “Warm House” centres that welcome children at risk after school. These hubs offer what every child needs to thrive—a hot, nutritious meal; a quiet place to study; caring adults who are present and consistent; and a safe, supervised environment to breathe, laugh, and heal. When a child arrives hungry and leaves nourished in body and spirit, that single evening can change the next morning.

Families are still rebuilding their lives after the upheavals of the past two years. Some remain displaced, and many children wake in fear and uncertainty. In this environment, the simplest acts—sitting down to a steaming bowl of soup, hearing someone call your name with kindness, finding a place at a real table—become lifelines.

Because of your generosity, Vision for Israel has a proven track record of responding quickly and compassionately. From our logistics center, we mobilized within hours to deliver relief to survivors and evacuees. Thousands received food staples, hygiene items, baby supplies, and store vouchers for dignity of choice, while children and parents accessed counseling and safe spaces to begin healing. That same commitment to practical mercy is what drives this Warm House initiative.

Here is what your help will make possible in a Warm House: consistent hot meals for school nights so that children can concentrate and grow; wholesome snacks that sustain energy for homework and play, and the steady presence of trained staff and volunteers who know the children by name. Together, we can equip these centres to serve more kids each week, keep kitchens stocked, and ensure every plate carries both nutrition and dignity.

Hanukkah teaches us that even a small flame can light an entire room. When we place one candle in the window, we declare that darkness does not win. Every hot meal, every seat pulled up to the table, every caring voice saying “We’re glad you’re here” is a candle set in a child’s night. When a community Warm House fills with laughter and the smell of freshly cooked food, we catch a glimpse of what restoration can look like.

Our prayer is to multiply that light across Israel’s most vulnerable neighbourhoods. One Warm House can brighten a street; several can brighten a city. And when you add your light to ours, a miracle can unfold that is every bit as real as oil that burned longer than expected: children who came in anxious leave at peace; children who came in hungry leave filled; children who felt unseen discover they are cherished.

We’re honoured to share a beautiful answer to prayer, and invite you to help us set the table for Israel’s most vulnerable little ones. In partnership with an organization that cares for children at risk, the Warm House project is a feeding program that we are launching. This is also our year-end giving kickoff, and it couldn’t be more timely.

The Warm House model has quietly served children for three decades across Israel, adapting to changing needs while keeping one constant: dedicated, sensitive, and warm care. Together, we are beginning by sponsoring one Warm House in central Israel that will serve 15 precious children, ages 3–6.

Many of these children come from homes marked by violence and chronic nutritional deficiency. That’s why the Warm House provides more than food, where each child receives three nourishing meals a day. The program also builds resilience through value-based education, healthy communication, and language development. Children learn to live without violence, to care for their bodies, to practice personal and environmental hygiene, and to grow vital life skills and social confidence.

Each Warm House operates Sunday–Thursday from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM, and on holidays from morning hours. A seasoned team, including a leading teacher, a devoted “house mother,” and a social worker, cares for up to 20 children per home, offering unconditional warmth, attentive listening, and tailored enrichment led by professional instructors. It’s multicultural by design, serving disadvantaged families from every sector of Israeli society according to socio-economic need.

When a child is fed, seen, and loved, everything can change. The Warm House has a long record of children becoming adults who succeed with dignity. That is the future we want to multiply.

Here is the practical need: it costs 80,000 ILS (about £18,500) to operate one Warm House for a full year. That includes purchasing food, preparing the meals in the home’s kitchen, and paying the house mother for her work. By God’s grace and your partnership, we intend to fully sponsor this first home—and, in time, more.

This Impact Report is a glimpse into what faith in action looks like: ordinary lives transformed by extraordinary compassion. Through every challenge, your prayers and support have made a difference. As you read, we hope you’re reminded that light still shines in the darkness—and that together, we are part of something eternal.

This summer, Vision for Israel distributed 912 high-quality schoolbags to first graders across Israel through our Pack to School initiative. Working with local municipalities and welfare offices, we identified families of low socioeconomic status and coordinated respectful, dignified distributions. Each child received a sturdy backpack with a protective back shield and a matching kit: pencil case, water bottle, and lunch box. 

The designs delighted the kids, helping build excitement for the first day of school. Distributions spanned cities in central and southern Israel. Beyond supplies, the project affirmed to each family that they are seen and supported. By equipping children with the tools they need—both practical and emotional—we’re helping them begin their educational journey with confidence, belonging, and joy.

In August, we hosted a special evening at the Millennium Centre for reservists’ families—about 190 participants, including 80 children entering first grade. Families traveled from near and far to share a generous dinner, fellowship, and a night of wonder. Kids enjoyed juggling, archery workshops, a VR and multimedia zone, and a comic circus show that filled the room with laughter.

Each child received a premium schoolbag and kit (pencil case, water bottle, and lunch box), ensuring they start school prepared and proud. The event, held in cooperation with the brigade team, offered more than fun and gifts. It created a space to honor the sacrifice of reservists and the resilience of their children—young heroes waiting patiently for their father’s safe return. Parents expressed heartfelt thanks, sharing how the evening strengthened their families and renewed hope. Smiles, full hearts, and equipped students were the greatest reward.

Our annual scholarship ceremony took on deeper meaning this year as approximately 80% of recipients are survivors of the 7 October 2023 attacks. We met young men and women whose lives changed in an instant—students determined to continue their studies despite profound emotional and financial challenges.

The evening included refreshments, warm greetings, and a captivating lecture by a Guinness World Record holder in memory techniques, offering practical tools for learning and focus. The heart of the event was the awarding of scholarships and the moving testimonies from recipients—stories of grief, courage, perseverance, and the hope of a renewed future. Scholarships help cover tuition and educational costs, but they also communicate something more: you are not alone. Vision for Israel remains committed to standing with terror survivors—providing both tangible support and community—so they can reclaim their dreams, rebuild stability, and move forward with dignity into a new season of life.

At the Millennium Centre, we dedicated a new-generation Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) ambulance to Magen David Adom—specially designed for multi-casualty events and equipped with two treatment beds. This is the first ambulance donated to MDA in the new Jewish year and the 16th ambulance Vision for Israel has donated over the years—another milestone in our 31 years of strengthening national resilience. Senior MDA leaders, officials from the Modi’in Municipality, and community guests joined the ceremony.

Barry and Batya emphasized VFI’s unwavering commitment to saving lives and supporting Israel’s emergency infrastructure. This advanced vehicle significantly enhances rapid response and coordinated care in complex incidents, helping first responders stabilize multiple patients simultaneously. We see this as a sacred trust: to invest in readiness before crisis strikes. Through continued partnership with MDA, we’re building capacity that protects communities, shortens response times, and gives every Israeli a greater chance when seconds matter most.

As Israel prepared for Rosh Hashanah—a season of renewal and family gatherings—our team distributed over 1,200 gift cards to households facing financial hardship. Holiday meals can be an overwhelming burden for single-parent families, people with physical or mental disabilities, the sick, elderly, and others in need. We partnered with local authorities and community leaders across the country to ensure support reached the right families in time. 

The gift cards preserve dignity by allowing recipients to choose their own holiday essentials—fresh produce, proteins, and festive items—so they can celebrate with joy. Many expressed heartfelt thanks for the personal care, saying the help arrived just when it was most needed. Together, we transformed worry into welcome, filling hearts and homes with hope.

As Remembrance Sunday approaches across the UK, we pause to remember with gratitude those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. Gratitude is more than a feeling—it’s a way of life that overflows into courageous love for our neighbors. In a world jolted by conflict and confusion, thankful hearts become faithful hands. We worship the Lord for His steadfast love, and then we step forward to reflect that love, especially toward the Jewish people who today often face hostility simply for being who they are—Jewish.

We speak truth in love, gently but firmly correcting falsehoods when we hear them. We show up—checking in on Jewish friends and neighbors, ensuring they feel seen and safe. We advocate—asking leaders, schools, and local councils to protect vulnerable communities. We learn and teach—sharing Scripture and facts, helping others understand Israel’s story and the Jewish people’s ongoing resilience. And we give to works of compassion that turn love into tangible help.

The war in Gaza stretched on for two long years, and with each passing month, the burden grew heavier. The nation is still hurting, praying, and striving to hold fast to hope.

Even as the ceasefire went into effect, Vision for Israel is sponsoring and hosting therapeutic sessions for soldiers living with PTSD—and for their spouses who carry invisible wounds of their own. These are safe spaces of care, clinical support, and community—places where tears are welcomed, and God’s comfort is invited to do its quiet work.

We’d like you to meet a few of the families your love can help:

A self-employed reservist from northern Israel, a handyman who was called up five times since the fighting began. His small business nearly closed; debts to suppliers mount. His wife has been caring for two children alone—one with special needs—straining to keep the home afloat emotionally and financially.

A reservist who enlisted on the first day of the war. After a brief return, he was drafted again. His employer couldn’t hold his position and let him go. Debts accumulated; his wife now bears the whole financial load.

A young couple from central Israel. He is a reserve officer. She is a teacher on maternity leave with a 3-month-old baby and a 2-year-old toddler. A serious complication at birth kept her hospitalized for a long time. With repeated call-ups and no family support nearby, she faces daily uncertainty, raising two little ones largely on her own.

A soldier from the Gaza Envelope community. His family was evacuated and has not yet returned home; they’re still in temporary housing. He recently left for a fifth round of reserve duty. His wife and children, all wrestling with post-traumatic stress since 7 October, are in ongoing treatments, longing for a normal life that still feels out of reach.


These are not headlines; they’re households—beloved image-bearers of God. Our therapeutic groups help restore sleep, calm anxiety, repair marriages, and reconnect parents with their children. We pair trauma-informed care with encouragement, creating a pathway from survival to resilience.

Welcome to our new series, Israel in Focus—short, clear teachings that bring context and truth to complex moments in Israel’s story. As we just commemorated two years since 7th October 2023, we chose to begin with it. That day—Simchat Torah on the Jewish calendar—is a holy day meant for Torah, joy, and dancing. Instead, at daybreak, Israel awoke to a coordinated, multi-front terrorist assault launched by Hamas and other terror groups from the Gaza Strip.

Around 6:30 a.m., the first waves of rockets screamed into Israeli towns and cities. Within four hours, more than 3,000 rockets had been fired, forcing families into safe rooms and shelters. Under this cover of chaos, between 5,000 and 5,600 terrorists breached Israel’s southern border along a 60-kilometer front. They used tractors to tear through the separation fence, paragliders to leap over it, and arrived heavily armed with RPGs and other weapons.

Twenty-nine towns and kibbutzim came under attack. Among the earliest and hardest-hit locations were the Nova festival near Kibbutz Re’im, Sderot, Kibbutz Nir Oz, Kibbutz Kfar Aza, and Kibbutz Be’eri. At the same time, twelve army positions and bases were targeted to sever communications, slow reinforcements, and leave civilians defenseless.

The result was carnage. Terrorists committed atrocities against humanity—slaughter, rape, burning, destruction, and looting. For long, desperate hours, many Israeli civilians had no one to reach. Police stations and IDF units were also under fire. Families huddled in safe rooms; some were burned alive or murdered where they hid.

In those first hours, the first line of defense was not the military but the local emergency response teams—neighbors and volunteers who ran toward danger to shield their communities. Only after many hours did IDF soldiers break through to the affected areas, fight building by building, and rescue those who were still alive.

Among those ordinary heroes was a man whose story we carry with reverence—a brother-in-law who, by divine timing and sheer selfless courage, saved the lives of his entire extended family.

That morning, as rockets thundered overhead, one family found themselves hiding in a bomb shelter in Ofakim, paralyzed with fear. But outside the door, their beloved brother-in-law, Ariel, was moving. He had seen what was coming. He had gathered weapons, taking it upon himself to defend not only his own home but theirs as well.

At some point, terrorists approached. He was alone—but he stood in their path. He engaged them, firing his weapon, holding them back with nothing but his courage and determination. Because of his stand, the family was able to flee their safe room and run for their lives. Every second he bought with his resistance became a second that carried them further from death. And then, the last bullet. The last breath.

He fell there, outside the shelter he had protected, but because he stood where he did, the rest of the family lived. His actions were not just brave—they were sacred. He laid down his life so that others could rise up and live. That is the kind of love no enemy can destroy.

It was only hours later, after a harrowing escape, that his family learned the truth: he had remained behind. He had faced the enemy alone. And he had done it all to save them.

His is just one of thousands of stories from that dark day—stories of valor, heartbreak, rescue, and loss. But it helps us see the reality behind the headlines: that each statistic is a soul, each tragedy a family.

In the days immediately following, Israel’s south became a landscape of grief and grit—burned homes, shattered windows, abandoned vehicles amid fields of ash. Evacuated families arrived in unfamiliar hotel rooms with little more than the clothes they wore. Children woke to nightmares, flinching at every slam of a door. Parents tried to be strong while making impossible phone calls, waiting for news of loved ones, and navigating a maze of emergency needs.

Here is the stark toll of that day:
• 251 people taken hostage
• 1,697 murdered
• 19,019 injured
• 143,000 evacuated from their homes
• 300,000 reserve soldiers called up

This is where the compassion of God’s people, expressed through practical help, makes all the difference. At Vision for Israel, we mobilized our team and partners to meet urgent needs for the displaced and the bereaved. Working from our logistics centre, The Millennium Centre, we assembled and distributed relief packages with hygiene items, food staples, clothing, bedding, and baby supplies to families who had lost everything. We provided store vouchers so parents could choose essentials with dignity. We supported trauma-care initiatives for children and families, helping them begin the long journey of healing with counseling, safe activities, and tools to process fear and grief.

We also helped equip first responders and community emergency teams with protective gear and essentials, and we assisted evacuees as they resettled—supplying school materials for displaced students, and ongoing food support as the weeks stretched into months. During the fall feasts and beyond, we have been delivering gift cards and comfort items to remind families that they were seen, remembered, and loved.

Your prayers and partnership turned compassion into action. Each box delivered, each gift card placed into a parent’s hands, each hour of trauma support—these are seeds of restoration. When the world seemed to fracture on 7th October the body of Messiah bound up the wounds, one act of mercy at a time.

As we remember 7th October, we ask you to keep praying for the release of the hostages who have been held captive for over 2 years. We also recommit to healing what was shattered—homes, hearts, and hope. You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.

As we emerge from the solemn reflection of Yom Kippur and prepare our hearts for the joy of Sukkot, we are reminded of God’s power to transform mourning into dancing and sorrow into hope. But this season also carries a deep weight—7th October marks two years since the horrific attack on Israel that changed countless lives forever.

That day is etched on the hearts of every Israeli and Jewish person. The lives lost, the communities shattered, and the trauma endured still ripple across the land. But even as our enemies sought to destroy us, we stand firmly on the promises of God. His love has not failed—and through faithful believers like you, we have seen light break through the darkness.

Our mission is to restore the lives of those who suffer from emotional injuries after such trauma, and to continue with the project of saving people’s lives from the threat of drones and rocket attacks.

In the two years since the attack, Vision for Israel has been urgently at work—installing life-saving bomb shelters across Israel’s most vulnerable regions. Thanks to your prayers and generous support, 458 shelters have already been placed since November 2021. These shelters have saved lives during both sudden rocket attacks and full-scale war, including:

Kibbutz Re’im, Nova music festival — one of the sites of the brutal massacre on 7th October

Communities under constant threat in Sderot, Ashkelon, and Ofakim

Majdal Shams, where a rocket struck just days after we installed a shelter

Northern towns like Kiryat Shmona, Rosh Pinah, and Tiberius, close to the Lebanon border

And yet—we are not done.

We’ve set a bold goal: to install at least 500 safety shelters by the end of 2025. Each shelter costs £10,500 ($14,000) to build and install. Today, 43% of Israelis report having to forgo even basic necessities due to financial strain. The cost of living has surged, and behind every statistic is a real person—someone just trying to survive.

At Vision for Israel, we’ve seen this need firsthand. In preparation for the High Holidays, we’ve distributed gift cards to over 1,260 families—each receiving about £75 ($100)—to help them buy food, clothing, and essentials for the new year. But the need continues to rise.

Let us tell you about G. He has served faithfully in Israel’s Air Force reserves since October 2023, putting in countless hours to protect the country he loves. G. and his wife have two young daughters. Before the war, he launched a small handyman business to provide for his growing family. But when duty called, that business had to stop.

Then, last Rosh Hashanah, tragedy struck. On his way home for the holiday, G. was injured in a serious car accident. Since then, he’s faced ongoing medical issues, and his wife—crippled by anxiety—has struggled to care for their children. Their rent is high, their bills are overdue, and they are in desperate need of both financial and emotional support.

This is just one family among many.

When we think of Israel’s soldiers, we often picture them standing strong on the front lines, defending our homeland with courage and determination. But what the cameras and headlines rarely show is what happens after the battle—when the uniform comes off, the weapons are put away, and the soldier returns home. For many, the war never truly ends.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an invisible wound, yet it is as real and devastating as any physical injury. It can trap a soldier in the past, replaying moments of terror and loss, and rob them of peace in the present. It can destroy marriages, isolate friendships, and, tragically, sometimes claim lives.

This year, the crisis has become more urgent than ever. The Knesset recently held a special session to address the alarming number of suicides among active-duty and reserve soldiers. Behind every statistic is a story—a son or daughter, a spouse, a friend—someone who once stood guard over Israel and is now fighting a battle in their own mind.

One such story is of a young reservist who returned home from an intense combat operation physically unharmed but emotionally shattered. His nights were filled with nightmares. A car backfiring could send him into a panic. His wife, desperate to help, felt herself drifting further away as he withdrew into silence. Only after joining a therapeutic group did he begin to find his voice again—and with it, the first glimmer of hope.

We at Vision for Israel believe that no soldier should have to fight this battle alone. That is why, starting this September, we are launching a vital new initiative in partnership with an experienced organization dedicated to helping soldiers with PTSD. Together, we will offer mental rehabilitation sessions at our Millennium Center—safe, confidential spaces where soldiers and their loved ones can begin the journey of healing.

These sessions will be structured, compassionate, and deeply personal. Each program will run for 4–8 meetings, two hours each, guided by trained professionals who specialize in trauma recovery. Importantly, soldiers will not walk this road alone—spouses or significant others will be part of the process, learning how to rebuild trust, communicate through pain, and face the future together.

Group sizes will be small—only 10–15 participants—ensuring that each person is truly seen and heard. We will adapt special rooms in the Millennium Center to provide warmth, privacy, and comfort, creating an environment where healing can flourish.

The cost of launching this entire program—covering trained facilitators, preparation of the spaces, and all materials—is 60,000 Shekels (about USD 16,000). When you think of the lives that can be saved, the families that can be restored, and the futures that can be reclaimed, it is a small price for an immeasurable return.

In the city of Lod, we met Golda — a grandmother raising her three young grandchildren. Her life has been marked by unimaginable loss. Two years ago, Golda’s youngest daughter, Aya, was murdered while pregnant with her fourth child, in a brutal act witnessed by her own children. The children’s father, already raising them alone, passed away earlier this year from a broken heart over the loss of his wife. Now, Golda carries the weight of their care on her own shoulders.

When we handed her grandson a new backpack, Golda’s eyes filled with tears. She told us how the children are receiving therapy and trying to rebuild a sense of normalcy. Something as small as a backpack, she said, is “a joy and a hope” for her family.

Every year, as the High Holidays draw near, we are reminded of the sacred call to gather around the table, to remember God’s goodness, and to draw close to one another in unity and peace. But for some of Israel’s bravest young men and women, the season brings not warmth—but silence.

These are the amazing heroes “lone soldiers” of Israel—many of them not new immigrants, but native-born Israelis who have been abandoned, orphaned, or estranged from their families. They serve in the Israel Defense Forces with no mother to pack their bag, no father at their graduation, and no loved one waiting for them when they step off the bus.

Take Shlomi, for example. He grew up in an ultra-Orthodox home as one of 13 siblings. At just 14, he left due to unbearable hardship. He drifted from place to place before ending up in prison and then a rehabilitation center. There, he found a flicker of purpose—and enlisted in the IDF.

At his basic training graduation, the loneliness hit hardest. “Almost everyone has family there,” he said. “You’re standing alone, looking right and left, asking yourself: Why? I worked so hard. Don’t I deserve for someone to see that?”

And when he returned home after long stretches on base? There was no one to ask how he was doing. No one to heat up a meal. “It’s just you, God, and the crushing silence that no one is there to break.”

This is the reality for thousands of native Israeli lone soldiers today. In the worst food crisis Israel has faced in 50 years, even these young heroes struggle to put food on their tables.

At Vision for Israel, we have been supporting lone soldiers—both immigrants and native-born—for decades. As we prepare gift cards to purchase food for the High Holidays, these young men and women are among our top priorities.

Feeding the Brave: Comforting Soldiers in the Rubble of War

Amid the war with Iran, VFI teams traveled to meet search and rescue soldiers working in the rubble of missile-hit buildings. We served them hot, nourishing burger meals with fresh vegetables and fries—small comforts during unimaginable tasks. At a site in Beit Yam, commanders took us on a tour of the devastation. The destruction was horrifying. Yet amid the pain, our presence brought moments of joy and relief. Hundreds of meals were distributed, and the soldiers expressed deep appreciation. It was a sacred privilege to stand beside them—to comfort those who comfort others.

Not Forgotten: Clothing and Comfort for Families Fleeing Missile Attacks

We visited a central Israel hotel housing families evacuated after losing their homes to missile strikes. Many had fled with nothing but the clothes on their backs. VFI brought packages of clothing, diapers, and toys for the children. As we handed them out, parents embraced us with tears and gratitude. The packages were more than material help—they were a message of solidarity. One father said it best: “You reminded us that we’re not forgotten.” In times of war, these gestures are lifelines, and we are honoured to extend your love to those most in need.

A Passover of Dignity: Bringing Joy to Families in Crisis

Ahead of Passover, we provided financial assistance to over 1,200 welfare families across central and southern Israel. Gift cards were distributed in cities including Petach Tikva, Rosh Ha’Ayin, Modiin, Kiryat Malachi, Sderot, and Netivot. The project was carried out in coordination with municipal welfare departments, who helped oversee the distributions. These families are living in financial crisis, and for many, this assistance meant the difference between celebrating Passover with dignity or going without. One welfare worker said our presence always touches her deeply. The families’ gratitude was overwhelming, and their smiles reminded us why this mission is so important.

Healing After Horror: A Terror Survivor Finds Hope

In May, we met a young man named O., who had been stabbed in a terrorist attack in Tel Aviv just months before. The attack left him with physical injuries and deep emotional scars. Nightmares, anxiety, and fear have become part of his daily life. He shared how difficult it is to navigate bureaucracy in order to receive help. In response, VFI stepped in to sponsor his therapy sessions. O. is now undergoing treatment alongside other terror victims. He was visibly moved—not only by the financial help, but by the genuine care he received. For him, that emotional embrace meant everything.

New Clothes, New Confidence: Serving Forgotten Refugee Kids

VFI delivered over 400 items of seasonal clothing to refugee children in Tel Aviv, aged 5–12. These children, many from families without legal status, live in harsh conditions and face deportation threats. Though the law entitles them to education, most lack access to quality schooling and basic necessities. Some are at risk of turning to crime due to extreme poverty and lack of opportunity. The organisation we partnered with supports these families, and with our help, has previously provided backpacks and school supplies. This recent clothing donation was a lifeline—meeting both physical and emotional needs for children society often overlooks.

A Hug in Fabric: Clothing Little Ones Who Have So Little

In Jaffa, we donated 300 clothing items to a daycare centre serving at-risk children aged 4–6. These little ones come from deeply impoverished families, where parents often work long hours and struggle to provide even the basics. The daycare centre is a haven where some children receive their only meal of the day. Malka, the house mother, told us how critical this donation was—many of the children simply don’t have adequate clothing. She blessed our team and our donors with heartfelt thanks, reminding us that small gifts of compassion can change a child’s outlook on life.

Powering Protection: A Solar Lifeline for Israel’s Soldiers

A battalion from the Negev Brigade, serving deep inside the Gaza Strip, received a portable solar power station from VFI. This device—valued at nearly £670 (3,000 NIS)—allows soldiers to generate electricity in the field for charging gear, operating appliances, and even cooking. The sergeant major who collected the equipment shared that despite being in reserve duty for over 500 days, the battalion’s morale remains high. Their mission is clear: to return the kidnapped and protect Israel’s borders. This practical donation boosted the soldiers' capabilities and morale, serving as a reminder that people around the world stand behind them.

Shelters of Hope: Saving Lives Near the Gaza Border

In response to continued rocket threats near the Gaza border, we installed six more safety shelters in frontline communities. Since the horrific 7 October attack, Vision for Israel has made it a priority to increase civilian protection. These new shelters were placed in coordination with local officials and the Home Front Command. In Ofakim, one shelter was dedicated in memory of Shahar Gez, a young man who lost his life before he could join the IDF. His family participated in the memorial installation. So far, thanks to your donations, 438 shelters have been installed—each one a beacon of safety and hope.

Dancing Through the Pain: A Day of Joy for Holocaust Survivors

We welcomed Holocaust survivors from Beersheva to a joyful event at the Millennium Centre, where we served a nutritious breakfast, live entertainment, and a space for connection. One participant said, “As long as you can move your legs—it is good!” As the music played, many stood up and danced, radiating resilience and life. These moments are priceless. Survivors shared how much the event meant to them, lifting their spirits and giving them renewed strength. “You made our day,” one said. Events like these are more than entertainment—they are a statement that we remember, honor, and cherish their lives.

Behind the Frontlines: Honoring the Wives Who Wait

The wives of reserve soldiers carry heavy emotional and practical burdens as their husbands serve far from home. In June, we hosted a special event at the Millennium Centre for 30 such women. Designed for pampering and renewal, the event included massages, workshops, and heartfelt conversations. These women are often left without government support, raising children alone and shouldering fear for their husbands' safety. Our goal was to say: we see you, we honour you. As one woman said with tears in her eyes, the embrace from Vision for Israel helped her feel less alone. That’s the heart of our mission.

In the aftermath of the recent war with Iran and the ongoing war in Gaza, the damage has been severe and widespread. Entire neighborhoods have been destroyed. Homes have been reduced to rubble. Families have lost not only their possessions but the very sense of security and routine that once anchored their lives.

Over 17,000 evacuees are now living in temporary housing situations. Many fled with only what they could carry, and they now face the overwhelming task of rebuilding their lives from the ground up. They are not just without homes—they are without the basic tools to begin again.

When we think of the young people who come through our scholarship program, we think of resilience. We think of courage. And we think of Yehuda.

In 2011, Yehuda was just 17 when his life was forever changed. He was sitting with a friend in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem when a terrorist stabbed him in the back and stomach—unprovoked and full of hate. He was rushed to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, suffering severe damage to his liver and lungs. And yet, even in those terrifying moments, he remained conscious, fighting for his life.

That was over a decade ago. The physical scars remain—but so does the hope.

Today Yehuda is in his 30s, married and a father. He went back to school to get a bachelor’s degree in law and become a lawyer. Yehuda was one of the students receiving a scholarship through Vision for Israel’s “Educational Advancement” initiative. These are not just scholarships. They are lifelines. They are the bridge from trauma to healing, from despair to dreams fulfilled.

Since 2018, Vision for Israel has stood with survivors like Yehuda. We’ve provided hundreds of scholarships to young men and women who’ve endured the trauma of terrorism. We know that education does more than open doors—it helps restore the soul.

Each student receives a scholarship of £320 ($430) (1,500 NIS). And this year, in honor of Barry’s birthday on 15 July, we’re praying to raise funds to gift 100 students with scholarships—that’s 100 second chances.

Summer greetings to all of our wonderful partners in God’s work through Vision for Israel! The heat is here, but thankfully, so is the ceasefire with Iran. After almost 2 weeks of missiles, sirens, and everything shutting down, everyone is trying to return to ‘normal’ life. Everyone is still recovering from the sleepless nights, damage from the missiles that hit, and fear and trauma caused by the intense number of missiles and sirens. 

However, we are grateful to return to some kind of ‘normal’, and to be able to have more freedom to go outside and try to enjoy summertime events. One special event coming up on July 15th is Barry’s birthday! In honor of his birthday, we want to share a few fun facts you may not know about Barry.

1. Barry was born and raised in Motown – Detroit, Michigan.
2. He was raised in a Jewish American family. 
3. He has 3 brothers.
4. Barry discovered his musical talents at a young age. At 10 years old, he started playing the guitar. By age 12, he started playing the clarinet. 
5. Barry was in a rock band! When he was a teenager, he toured the Midwest with his rock band.
6. On the day of Barry’s Bar Mitzvah, the 1967 Detroit riots began. 
7. Barry worked at a pizzeria when he was a teenager.
8. In 1971, Barry was saved and became a believer in Yeshua.
9. Barry was a TV producer before he moved to Israel.
10. In 1981, Barry made Aliyah from the USA and moved to Jerusalem.
11. Barry met Batya in Jerusalem at a songwriters meeting.
12. Barry and Batya got married in 1987 in Jerusalem.
13. In 1994, Barry and Batya established Vision for Israel. 
14. Barry enjoys the simple things in life, like time with his 6 grandchildren, golf, music, and traveling.

This summer in Israel is not like any other.

In one central Israeli city, more than 300 evacuees—mothers, fathers, young children, the elderly—are trying to rebuild their lives from the confines of a hotel room. Across the nation, 17,000 people have been forced from their homes due to ongoing conflict. Many of them fled with only the clothes they were wearing. In a matter of moments, homes, vehicles, and entire neighbourhoods were reduced to rubble. Thousands of buildings have been destroyed. Thousands of lives were turned upside down.

Among the evacuees are families caring for infants, children, and elderly parents. In one temporary shelter alone, there are about 50 children between the ages of kindergarten and 12, and 10 infants. These children are living in unfamiliar surroundings, far from their schools, friends, and the safety of home. Parents are doing their best to keep them calm, but the weight of uncertainty is unbearable.

At Vision for Israel, we’re responding with compassion, speed, and determination. We’ve been called for such a time as this—to be a shelter for the broken and a light in the darkness. But the needs are overwhelming, and we urgently need your help.

We are working around the clock to provide:

This year marks the 25th anniversary of our Pack to School project—a simple but powerful way to bless Israel’s most vulnerable children. With God’s help and your faithful support, over 300,000 children have received brand-new orthopedic backpacks from Vision for Israel since we began.

Yet the need has only grown.

Today, over 1 million Israeli children live in poverty. That’s nearly one in every three children. Many come from large families, recent immigrant households, or homes torn apart by trauma—including terrorism. Their parents are often working multiple jobs and still struggling to make ends meet. And as national defense needs and inflation drive up the cost of living, social welfare support has not kept pace.

Take Dalit, for example. Since the beginning of the war, her husband has been called to serve again and again. “When my husband is in a combat zone,” she says, “I can’t really work. I can’t get up, I can’t breathe.” With two small children, no stable income, and constant fear hanging over her home, Dalit’s situation is tragically common. Her son wears his father's army name tag to school. Her daughter doesn't want to leave the house. The economic and emotional toll is devastating.

Dalit’s story is not an isolated one. It is a cry from the heart of thousands of women across Israel — women who feel forgotten, who feel that the system has turned a blind eye to their sacrifices. Their resilience is being stretched to the breaking point.

And this is where you come in.

We are launching a new project to bring tangible support to these brave women. This summer, we will host a special evening at the Millennium Centre for 80 to 100 reserve soldiers’ wives. The evening will include a workshop for healing and connection, a shared meal, and an uplifting program of comedy, theater, or teaching. Each woman will also receive a personal gift to remind her: you are seen, you are valued, and you are not alone.

On 1st May, Israel marked her 77th Independence Day—a day filled with celebration, remembrance, and renewed hope. Each year, this day calls us to reflect on the miraculous journey of the Jewish people: a journey of restoration, survival, and the fulfillment of ancient prophecy.

Israel’s story is unlike any other. It is a story that begins in the pages of Scripture—when God promised a land to Abraham and his descendants. For centuries, the people of Israel lived in that land, walked its soil, worshipped in its holy places, and built a society rooted in God’s law. But exile came, and with it, nearly two millennia of wandering. The Jewish people were scattered across the earth, living as strangers in foreign lands, often facing persecution, forced conversions, and expulsion. The modern era brought even greater darkness, culminating in the Holocaust—the ultimate act of antisemitism, where six million Jewish lives were cruelly taken.

And yet, against all odds, the Jewish people returned to their land.

In 1948, after centuries of dispersion, the State of Israel was reborn. For the first time in almost 2,000 years, the Jewish people had a home—a place where Hebrew was once again spoken in the streets, where Jewish children could grow up learning the stories of their ancestors, and where the nation could stand in dignity and strength. Israel’s rebirth was nothing short of a miracle. But as we all know, the journey did not end there.

From its very first day, Israel has been under threat. Wars, terror attacks, economic hardship, and political isolation have been constant companions. And yet, through it all, the people of Israel have held on. They’ve rebuilt cities, cultivated the desert, pioneered advancements in science and technology, and opened their arms to immigrants from around the world. Israel remains a refuge for Jews who have nowhere else to go. It is the only true homeland the Jewish people have ever had—or ever will have.

But while the achievements of these 77 years are worth celebrating, there are still many in Israel who live in fear and uncertainty—especially in the northern and southern regions near the borders, where the threat of rocket attacks is a daily reality. In these areas, families must often race for cover with only 15 seconds’ warning. Children are taught how to drop everything and run to a shelter, sometimes in the middle of the night. Elderly residents, some of whom are Holocaust survivors, are left vulnerable and exposed.

That’s why this Independence Day, we are focusing our efforts on protecting the most vulnerable by installing new safety shelters in high-risk areas. These shelters save lives. They are a literal refuge in times of danger—a safe space for families, the elderly, and children when sirens sound and rockets fall.

At Vision for Israel, our mission is to restore both the physical and spiritual health of the people of this land. Over the years, and thanks to your generous support, we’ve already installed more than 420 bomb shelters across Israel. But the need continues to grow. Each shelter costs £10,500 ($14,000), and every new shelter brings another community a little closer to peace of mind.

Honouring the Past, Protecting the Future

“You shall tell your son on that day, saying, ‘It is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’”

Each year as we sit at the Passover table and remember how God delivered our people from the grip of slavery in Egypt, we also turn our eyes toward another solemn remembrance: Yom HaShoah, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial Day.

This year, Yom HaShoah falls on 24 April, just days after the conclusion of Passover. The closeness of these dates reminds us that the story of Jewish survival is still unfolding—and still under threat.

There are 123,715 Holocaust survivors and World War II-era refugees living in Israel today. Their average age is 87. Many, like Dalia*, are widowed, live alone, and suffer silently. Nearly 90,000 survivors are disabled, and countless others face emotional and psychological challenges that have only deepened since the horrors of 7 October.

Dalia is a Holocaust survivor from Iraq. During the Farhud—an antisemitic pogrom in Baghdad during WWII—she was just a young girl. Today, she is a frail widow, living on government stipends in a modest rented apartment. After a recent fall left her with a broken hip, her life has become even more confined. A foreign caregiver from India now assists her daily, as she struggles with depression and anxiety worsened by the recent war.

And yet, despite everything, she still hopes.

With your support, we were able to give Dalia a gift card for Passover—something that brought a rare smile to her face and a reminder that she is not forgotten.

But thousands more like her still wait.

Even as Holocaust denial and antisemitic hatred increase around the world, especially on social media and on college campuses, we must declare with our words—and our actions—that we will not forget. Not now. Not ever.

We must be the voice of comfort for those who have outlived the horrors of the Holocaust, only to find themselves battling loneliness, poverty, and fear in their final years.
